課程概述 Course Description

Genome sequences are digital media storing the program of development for humans and other life forms. This course covers computational techniques for effective analysis of data broadly associated with genomes; including DNA, RNA, protein sequences and epigenetic data. The emphasis will be on computational techniques, mainly algorithms suitable for matching or performing inference on string (i.e. sequential digital) data. Individually these techniques have broad applications (e.g. data compression, information retrieval, operations research, speech recognition, etc.). In this course genome informatics will be used as an application area to motivate and unify their presentation.
