課程概述 Course Description

「食物政治與飲食認同」這門課與「農民文學和社會運動」是相互搭配,又可獨立存在的課程。這門課強調的「食物政治」特指現代食物系統的文化因素,源於西方殖民主義在世界的擴張,所主導的食物分配與農業技術的運作機制。特別是跨國公司在全球範圍,試圖以齊一、客制化食物消費的推進,已經成為特殊的文化現象。文學、社會學和文化研究提供了很好的媒介,對此問題提出了看法。 另外,如同社會學家Claude Fischler所言:食物不但滋潤我們,也產生意義。全世界範圍內,人們因為流動遷移,創造了豐富的食物旅程與認同,到底飲食認同與階級、族裔和性別關係為何?在當代代表著何種意義?希望通過這門課程可以獲得討論與學習。
The course aims to address the cultural significance of the modern food system and the power of nations globally like the USA,the EU and Asian countries. We can identify in European empires and in the colonial countries to expand the geographic scale of food distribution and transform the technological apparatus of agriculture. We also can trace back to the ancient world the very forms of cosmopolitan consumption and a cultural world. In terms of food politics it refers to the current tendency towards uniformity of cunsumer goods that multinational corporations have effectively promoted. Literature ,sociology and cultual studies will provide a power medium through which to chart both the historical continities and cultural ruptures that inform late modern appetites for world cuisines and national aspirations for global food power. As sociologist Claude Fischler defines, Food not only nourishes but also signifies. Food plays a significant medium of the traffic between the inside and ouside of our bodies,organizes, and legitimates our sense of self in distinction from others who practice different foodways. Therefore, Terry Eagleton mentioned that food it is never just food,it is endly interpretable materialised. The term of eating identities will link to the frequent synonmy of class,gender and race/ethnicity.
