課程概述 Course Description

英語修辭學
English Rhetoric is a one-semester, three-credit course (three hours per week), which is composed of lectures, discussions, group projects, and in-class as well as take-home written assignments, the satisfactory accomplishment of which will enable the students to receive three credits and prepare themselves for the follow-up course—English Composition. The goal of this course is to provide students with a review of English grammar and a foundation for advanced studies in discourse rhetoric. In general, lectures and discussions will focus on effective sentences with an emphasis on the figures of rhetoric. A series of exercises, which are mainly devoted to English and Chinese, will be assigned to develop the students’ writing skills in a variety of fields and situations. This course, to some extent, is aimed at paving the way for oratory essentials for academic writing and public speaking.
