課程概述 Course Description

This course focus on the basic theory and unique properties of ceramic materials. Ceramics with various forms of 0D, 1D, 2D, and morphologies from nano size to bulk, play the most important role in the future development of technology. Therefore understanding the basic theory and special properties of ceramics will be very useful for getting into the semiconductor, photoelectric, electronic and other ceramics relating industries. The basic structure of ceramics, effects of chemical forces on physical properties,thermodynamics and kinetic consideration will be discussed. Then the following specific properties of ceramic materials will be covered sequentially: diffusion and electric properties, mechanical Properties, thermal properties, dielectric properties, magnetic properties, and optical properties. The students will be asked to read the assigned subjects before the class, as well as make oral presentation and discussion in the class. A final report with the subject relating to some specified properties of ceramics will be required to submit at the end of the semester. Homework will be assigned in the class occasionally and submit to the NCKU moodle website, so as to engage further group discussions in the class.
