課程概述 Course Description

授課內容將探討當代歷史考古學的四個主要的範疇: 一、歷史考古研究的多尺度本質: 研究對象、研究單位、研究視野、研究資料、研究方法,長期研究發展的檢討以及近期研究焦點的遊移。 二、歷史考古對資本主義探討: 歷史考古在歐美的定義始於殖民時代的外來與在地族群的互動。故而本質上內涵對殖民主義的批判,進而衍生出對文明與普世進步價值、資本主義的內化(理解當代物質文化經驗的微隱意涵,必須回朔到其邏輯結構的生成與發展歷程,及其存在的大尺度結構)、實踐praxis的概念(to know, critique and take action in the world)之探討。 三、社會差異的維度: 一旦我們從遺物向人群踏出第一步時,立即碰上識別「社會單位」的問題。無論是族群、人群、階級、職業別、性別...,大體上「社會單位」都有主位和客位的不同定義(賦予、邊緣化、區隔、認知),並且是變動不居、視脈絡而定(fluid and contextual)。包括海外華人社群的歷史考古學研究等,核心在於探討社會單位之形成、認知、維持與操弄。相關概念包括族群、階級、邊緣化、商品化、消費形態、社會權力的協商與折衝,空間概念差異的制度化(階級關係的本質是取得和維護資源的權力不對等,後者往往在地景和空間規劃中體現)。 四、文化遺產: 這是歷史考古學亙古的糾葛。國家機器操弄、歷史記憶、社會實踐、多元文化論述。何謂生命共同體?誰的歷史誰的文化價值?
This course will introduce comprehensive discussions of modern historical archaeology, focusing on four dimensions: 1.The multi-scalar nature of historical archaeology: including its subject, unit, perspectives, data, development and recent changes in research foci. 2.Historical archaeology of Capitalism: recent discussions on capitalism, including its global context since the 16th century, relationships with colonialism and concept of praxis, to know, critique and take action in the world. 3.Dimensions of social disparity: it will focus on subjects and conceptions such as overseas Chinese, formation of social boundary and class, marginalization, commercialization, consumption patterns, and social negotiations. 4.Historical heritage: Who owns the past? How modern nations were formed? We will target related issues including communal memory, social praxes and multicultural discourse.
