課程概述 Course Description
介紹從古埃及到新古典時期的西洋建築變遷，希望學生能歷史中學習經驗與教訓，並將之應用於其他領域之中。This course introduces the origin and development of Western architecture, spanning from the 21th century BCE through the 19th century CE, which includes the topics of Ancient Egypt & Mesopotamia Architecture, Ancient Greek Architecture, Ancient Roman Architecture, Early Christian Architecture, Byzantine Architecture, Carolingian & Romanesque Architecture, Gothic Architecture, Renaissance Architecture, Baroque and Rococo Architecture, Neoclassical Architecture, and Architecture of Revivalism in the 19th Century. In this course, several major types of architecture are referred to, such as religious architecture (e.g. pyramids, mausoleum, temples and churches), military architecture (e.g. fortresses and castles), governmental architecture (e.g. palaces and city halls) and civil architecture (e.g. houses and mansions).
