課程概述 Course Description
語音與音韻學Introductory in nature, this course aims to prepare whoever interested in speech sounds and in doing relevant research for more advanced courses like Topic in Phonology or Optimality Theory. To equip the students with the general knowledge of the subject matter, the course will starts with articulatory phonetics, where speech production and the sounds of world’s languages (esp. those of English and Chinese languages) will be introduced and discussed. Then it will develop into an introduction of the general notions of phonology such as mora, syllable, tone, etc. It will also cover various phonological/morphological alternations in real languages and help students acquire a sense of the universal ways of sound alternations, so that they can analyze phonological data on their own
