課程概述 Course Description

This seminar is designed to help students make progress in thesis development and writing. It proceeds in three phrases. In Phase 1 (of five weeks), students identify research topics, learn how to use electronic database, survey at least 10 articles and conduct paper critique, and complete the draft for Chapter 1 of their theses. In Phase 2 (of eight weeks), students learn how to do literature review, and form groups, led by different instructors, to study research approaches (qualitative approach, survey, or modeling) to meet their thesis needs. In Phase 3, students communicate with their thesis advisors in the following three weeks (Week 14 to Week 16), write the draft for the first three chapters and the references of their theses, and present their thesis proposals in the last two weeks (i.e. Weeks 17 and 18).
