QUANTUM ELECTRONICS

  • Gaining a solid understanding on the basic principles of the quantum mechanics
  • Applying the quantum mechanics to the designs of the nano-scale devices
  • Learning the basic rules on designing the integrated optical devices
  • Familiarizing with FIMMWAVE/FIMMPROP and Matlab software packages

    5One-dimensional potential problems: waves and quantum mechanics
    6One-dimensional potential problems: the time-dependent Schrödinger equation
    7Introductory remarks on using the FIMMWAVE/FIMMPROP and Matlab software packages
    8Approximation methods in quantum mechanics (I): the WKB approximation
    9Approximation methods in quantum mechanics (II): Time-independent perturbation theory
    10Approximation methods in quantum mechanics (III): Time-dependent perturbation theory
    11Multielectron systems and crystalline symmetries (I)
    12Multielectron systems and crystalline symmetries (II)
    13Introducing the motivation behind the integrated photonics and comparing the striking features between the Schrödinger and Maxwell electromagnetic wave equations
    14Fundamentals of optical waveguides (I): the planar slab waveguides, rectangular waveguides, and graded-index waveguides
    15Fundamentals of optical waveguides (II): dispersion effects in waveguides & attenuation and nonlinear effects in waveguides
