課程概述 Course Description

氫原子是化學元素表中最小的元素。太陽含有73%氫、26氦和10%其他元素。經由氫與氫或氫與氦的核融合反應釋放出大量的能量包括光和熱來支持地球萬物的生存。在地球氫可以由烷類裂解或將水電解而來,它最主要的用途是作為潔淨環保能源,例如氫氣燃料電池是將氫與氧反應,釋放出電能和水。目前此種電池面對最大的挑戰是氫氣儲存的問題。2007年日本醫科大學太田成男教授在自然醫學雜誌發表一篇"氫氣可以清除細胞質內惡性自由基"開啟了氫氣在生物醫學的應用,目前已經超過800篇論文在利用氫氣或氫氣水來改善代謝症候群、心血管疾病、腦神經疾病和抗發炎及過敏疾病等。在日本氫氣機和氫氣水已經是一種被廣泛使用的健康養生用品,而且在2016年日本厚生勞動省已通過將氫氣納入醫療氣體。氫氣在台灣的生物醫學研究仍在啟蒙階段,但在坊間已常見氫氣機和氫氣水。本課程將帶領同學們更進一步瞭解氫氣分子的化學特性和未來的應用。
Hydrogen is the lightest element on the periodic table and it’s also the major element on the Sun (73%). Nuclear fusion of hydrogen releases huge amount of energy from the Sun, and it is the essential energy to support the lives on the Earth. Hydrogen gas can be produced by cracking down the alkane gas or electrolysis of water molecules. Hydrogen is an environmentally clean fuel and it can be used in many areas if its storage problem can be solved. Besides being used as a clean fuel, hydrogen was discovered by a Japanese scientist in 2007 that it plays an important role as a free radical scavenger in the biological system. There are more than 800 papers were published since then to explore the application of hydrogen as biomedical gas to treat patients with metabolic syndromes and various inflammations. Unfortunately, the research on this subject is quite limited in Taiwan. In this course, we will discuss the Chemistry and Biochemistry aspect of hydrogen, and we will also explore the economic value of Hydrogen.
