課程概述 Course Description

該課程將概述從新石器時代晚期到歷史時代早期的東南亞考古研究,依序提供新石器時代晚期、青銅時代、金屬/鐵器時代以及最後歷史時期的相關細節,並討論年代分期的問題。通過對考古遺址和文物的發掘和考察,該課程將涵蓋各種主題,如定居模式、喪葬習俗、城市化的起源、工藝品生產的組織,以及遠距離的文化交流。本課程將提供學生獲取或深化不同時期東南亞各地考古知識的機會。課堂討論將以文章和科學出版物為基礎。每週學生要閱讀和評論文章,以進一步探索科學推理,並提高思考和寫作的技能。修課者必須準備口頭報告,並在學期末繳交書面作業。
The course offers an overview of Southeast Asia archaeology from the late Neolithic to the beginning of the historical period. The course will successively provide details on the late Neolithic period, the Bronze Age, the Metal/Iron Age and finally the beginning of the historical period, while also discussing chronological issues. Through the examination of archaeological sites, major discoveries and material culture, the course will cover various topics, such as settlement patterns, funerary practices, the beginnings of urbanization, the organization of crafts production, as well as long-distance contacts. This course will be an opportunity for students to acquire or deepen knowledge on various sites of various periods in Southeast Asia. Discussions will be based on articles and scientific publications. Every week, students will be asked to read and comments articles in order to further explore scientific reasoning and to increase skills in thinking and writing. For the final examination, students will be asked to discuss a topic of their choice based on several articles. At the end of the course, students are expected to prepare an oral presentation and to provide a report.
