課程概述 Course Description

簡單的說: 您還在猶豫什麼?去年兩篇文章指出台灣高等教育的某種潛在危機:: [i] Patterson, David. “Students of All Majors Should Study Computer Science”, Chronicle of Higher Eduction, November 26,2013 [ii] Patterson, David. “Why are English majors Studying computer science”, Arts, Culture and Humanities, November 26,2013 上述兩篇文章,指出一個2004年至2013年的美國UC Berkeley, Stanford U.及 Washington U.三所百大名校『Enrollments in Introductory Computer Science Course』 的追蹤調查(由UC Berkeley Computer Science教授)道出(詳課程說明) 『在美三所百大名校電腦科學入門課受歡迎的趨勢』 反觀,台灣的,或說台灣名校的南台灣我們,又如何呢? 為什麼? 且聽我說: 談『電腦入門與應用』,其設計初衷乃是希望藉由剛學到的一些簡單 電腦基本而很快地拿過來真實世界運用.有親臨現場的感受,如此再舉一反三 以收通識學習之效 但電腦或資訊科技進步太快且應用的普及性太高,事實上已不能單用表象 來描述與闡述,如網路,如家電,如電話等是否為電腦的另類? 因此類推與舉一反三的需求更強,茲歸納出幾個特徵之設備(或工具)如下述: 『只要符合能快速、有效、大量、記憶四大功能者皆謂之類電腦』 故電腦已不受限於體積 重量 形狀 使用領域, 今日哪個學領域碰不到? 這是電腦的靜態實體面,乃所謂的電腦硬體面向 談到電腦,自然會討論到 『系統(System):即在有限範圍內,有輸入、處理與輸出』, 這是電腦的動態處理面,今日哪個學領域用不到? 這是所謂的電腦軟體面向 更進一步說,整個世界科技在飛快進步中,資訊科技(含電腦)也不例外,但 電腦特融入多種外來科技於其中(如生命或人因工程、或奈米工程等)或人文藝術,,因此電腦變得更廣為人用,成為當今的基本中的基本,亦即任何人都要學,因為他對任何科系的你都有用,而不管您是理工生醫電或文社規管哪個學院? 因此有限人生擬作無限的事,或者什麼都不想做,只想享受人生,那哪個工具最管用,看樣子,還是 電腦 這其中,原屬軟體面的『程式設計(Programming)』,卻也可硬體化成設備的一部分,坦率地說, 不管軟體或硬體,用它們的目的乃解決我們的專業問題或創造 專業機會,那哪個專業學科域用不到呢? 因此,程式設計變成基本中基本的根本. 而電腦本來就是來解決人類的問題,而人類的問題有理性與感性兩個層面, 『理性』討論的是自然之理,但為萬物之靈的人類又有其特有的『人性或感性』,這也是人類文化的核心,因此兩者的探索變成是電腦資訊工程與科學追求的基本價值,故而今日電腦『多媒體(聲光,Audio & Video)』是人類生活的相當體現,亦即是感性的另類表現. 因此,我們的結論是:上述『類電腦』、 『系統』、 『程式設計』或『多媒體』將是本課『電腦入門與應用』的課程重心
