課程概述 Course Description

主要目標在訓練學生使用科學方法對人群健康進行研究。先從科學方法的哲學基礎『猜測與否證』講起,談到科學性假說之形成、因果關係之判定,測量之基本原理。逐步進入流行病學之基本測量、率比與率差,生活品質之測量方法,健康照護服務效果評估,研究設計,率之標準化,抽樣原理;然後再談追蹤研究法及個案對照研究法。然後再談如何閱讀及批評一篇研究論文﹔最後再談衛生政策與風險評估研究法。近年來流行病學方法在計量健康效用(utility)上有大進展,直接可被用於醫療及衛生決策與成本效用分析;這是一般流行病學書上尚未寫到,但本課會有簡單介紹其觀念與研究方法。
The course has followed the chapters of a textbook and encouraged every student to raise questions in the class. If we have more than 3 foreign students, then the course can be given in English. Quiz is provided in every class except the first one. After this course, students must be able to provide a brief summary of how scientific inference and knowledge is produced and how one can make inference after conducting or reading a scientific study involving population health.
