課程概述 Course Description
The course proceeds through two approaches: subject-specific seminars and practice-based visits and exercises, and it is divided into three interconnected parts over the term, from ‘Concepts to Contexts to Cross-disciplinary’ to facilitate an evolving, empowering and holistic framing for a real world problem-solving learning process. Part I- Concepts- Seminars: it is a series of subject-specific seminars which introduces the fundamental concepts of the Creative Industries, from the values of the arts and culture, digital technologies, city and spaces, branding and innovation dynamics, and relates those to the key issues and debates surrounding the recent development of CI. By reviewing the macro environments and micro conditions, students will be able to reflect on the current state of the CIs and to foresee and frame its problems and future development. Part II- Contexts- Experiences: Following the conceptual learning over Part I seminars, Part II unfolds the wider field experiences by facilitating students’ self-organized group visits to their chosen fields and to be exposed to the CIs practices and reality. It aims to equip students with a transferrable skillset of analyzing the observable phenomenon and practices and making sense of the unseen problem and potential behind. Students are expected to identify industry developmental issues from the bottom up, ie. from the level of individual talent/entrepreneurs, to projects and products, markets and the wider value systems. Part III- Cross-disciplinary-Workshops. Continuing the previous problem framing and identifying process, the final part then focuses on the problem-solving group projects to the identified issues through three respective themematic working units/workshops: Marketing and Branding/ Inteactive and Multimedia Design/ Industry and Service Innovation. With the contrbutions from faculty members and invited parctitioners, students could choose two out of three workshops (one primary, one secondary ) to gain hands-on practices and reflections for CI development. The course finishes with group creative portfolio demos and feedback.
