課程概述 Course Description

發育生物學是所有生物學的核心,主要探討基因如何管理受精卵中胚胎體的細胞運作狀態的過程,像是辨識細胞的分佈方式、型態和發展行為。近年來發育生物學的發展受到了有長足進展的分子和細胞生物學的影響,已經有卓越的進步並且能提供大量可運用的資訊。在課程中,我們從簡單到複雜的生物系統都有介紹,諸如酵母菌、黏菌、線蟲、非洲菫、斑馬魚和老鼠。這些系統能提供豐富且充足的證據,讓學生對於胚胎發育有更清楚完整的認識。本課程中還有一個特色是對於植物發育的探討,因為一般的發育生物課程多半會被忽略。近年來植物的發育生物生物學有很大的突破,也被發現到許多特異性和重要性。探討首要組織的胚胎學對於研究已知的分子機制是必要的,因此在本課程的早期課程則會著重在胚胎學上。本課程也探討新的領域,像是選殖、幹細胞、遺傳工程、體外受精、癌症治療、器官再造和發展延長壽命的方法。
