學習規範 Course Policy

Quizzes :
1. There will generally be one quiz given before each text is discussed.
2. The quiz questions, usually of the Yes/No and Multiple-Choice type, are about the content of each text ; the purpose of the quiz is to make you read the short text before you come to class.
Oral Presentation:
1. Each group is responsible for 10-to-15-minute oral presentation whenever a new text is to be discussed. The presentation should be about the story, main themes, and important issues of the text; introduction to the historical and cultural background, if important for understanding of the text, is also welcomed.
2. The content of the presentation must be prepared and given in the PowerPoint format; only English is accepted as the proper language to use.
3. When the presentation is over, the PowerPoint file must be sent to me; it should include a name list of the contributors to the preparation of the report.
Paragraph Writing:
1. When the discussion of a text is finished, each group has to turn in an independent paragraph of about 150 to 200 words in length. The paragraph should be about an issue raised by the text. It should have a topic sentence and concluding statement, with multiple supporting statements to make the point.
2. The paragraph should be presented as a Microsoft-Word file in the required format (one-inch margin, Times New Roman 12 point font, double spaced, etc.).  The file should be turn in through the course website.
3. Although every group member can be involved in the preparation, it is suggested that the group members take turns writing the paragraph so that I can evaluate each student's writing ability individually.
Midterm and Final Exams:
The two exams are given to evaluate the students' understanding of the texts. Besides questions about idioms, vocabulary, and word usage, there will be others on meanings of the texts we have covered.

備註 Remarks

Since the school does not have enough number of language labs, all English courses can have access to the labs EVERY OTHER WEEK. For our class, the lab 26304 is available in every EVEN-NUMBER week.  Always go to the language lab for class in the specified week, although we may not do listening and speaking activities every time we meet there.  Foods and Drinks are not allowed in the lab; also remeber to bring along a jacket when you go to the lab.
