課程概述 Course Description
本課程分為四部分。第一部分為「研究的藝術」，詳細討論研究的意義及過程，包括研究範圍、研究問題（research questions）及難題（research problems）的尋求及認定，資料的搜尋，以及假說或論證的設定及證明等。第二部分從方法論的角度淺介科學探究的邏輯，比較兩大社會探究傳統的差異及其意涵，據以重新定位量性及質性研究的關係。 第三部分討論質性方法的理論與應用，將介紹並討論幾種較常被使用的方法及理論（包括深度訪談與焦點團體、民族誌與參與觀察法、口述歷史及行動研究）。這些研究法的討論及分析將分三部份：（1）介紹該方法的精神及原則；（2）該方法的研究實作賞析；（3）使用該方法已發表的論文賞析；以及（4）該方法的實作。最後一部分，以「研究的政治與倫理」為同學總結並深化對研究的藝術及質性方法的理解。課程學習目標 Course Objectives

第五部分則是小組研究習作，本習作的目的是（1）體驗、實踐“研究的藝術”這本書所談的研究方法及精神；（2）體驗、學習如何在研究中集體創作；（3）體驗如何實踐本課程討論的其中一個質性研究方法的精神、方法、及實際運作；（4）體驗做研究中可能遭遇的研究倫理問題及紓解方法。
