課程概述 Course Description
訓練使用一般英文學術性字彙,以增進學生英文口語表達及批判思考能力。課程學習目標 Course Objectives
Course Objectives:Ø The course is designed both for students studying general English and for those studying English with a view toward more academic work. Students’ both language skills and critical thinking skills will also be strategically developed in this course. The course places emphasis on helping students advance their reading comprehension skills and communicate with confidence in English.
Ø The focus on essential critical thinking skills in this course encourages students’ independent thinking and learning. These critical thinking skills include analyzing, synthesizing, making inferences, understanding organization, comparing and contrasting, understanding point of view and drawing conclusions. Students taking this course should be aware that they are required to actively participate in classroom discussions and in-class quizzes, and take mid-term and final exams. At the end of first semester, every student needs to do an oral presentation using Power Point.
