PHYSICAL CHEM. LAB. (1)

Determination of density (by pycnometer), determination of refractive index, the surface tension of solutions I (bubble pressure method), the surface tension of solutions II (drop-weight method), the viscosity of solutions (Ostwald viscometer ), the molecular weight of macromolecules, heat of solution and solubility, distribution of solute between two immiscible solvents, determination of molecular weight I ((freezing point method), determination of molecular weight II (boiling point method), vapor pressure of liquids, solubility curve of water-phenol, determination of boiling point for binary systems, solubility curve of three-component system, melting curve for two-component system, adsorption of acetic acid on active carbon, adsorption of acetic acid on an ion exchange resin, first-order reaction rate, second-order reaction rate, effects of ionic strength on activity coefficient and solubility, vapor-liquid equilibrium of binary system, measurements of decomposition voltage and electromotive force, measurements of entropy, enthalpy and Gibbs free energy, ion exchange membrane electrodialysis, ion exchange membrane dialysis, separation process by supported liquid membrane, separation process by emulsion liquid membrane.

A. Cultivate students’ fundamental accomplishment in Chemical Engineering and knowledge in relevant techniques.
B. Provide training to students on practice, communication, problem solving, and R&D skills.
