循環經濟的智慧製造
ENGAGING CIRCULAR ECONOMY WITH SMART MANUFACTURING

While circular economy studies seek to address the wasteful nature of today’s industrial mass-production practices, this course will investigate the possibilities of a future where the shift to mass-customization through CNC fabrication, smart factory automation, and cyber physical systems, as proposed by the Industry 4.0 Workgroups, will lead to a more efficient and sustainable industrial production paradigm. Through this course Prof. Kane Yanagawa of NCKU hopes to combine efforts with Da-Feng (大豐環保科技股份有限公司) recycling to explore the engagement of smart manufacturing and circular economics. Studies will be exposed to an alternative perspective on sustainable manufacturing through digital fabrication technologies, demonstrating the potential of such system with a custom built variable vacuforming machine , using recycled plastic sheet materials donated by Da-Feng. Da-Feng will host students at their Taichung location, tour their facilities and introduce students to their zero-zero waste management and recycling initiative. Students will have an opportunity to work hands-on with the machine and engage with digital fabrication and mass-customization as a design strategy, and platform for design innovation and freedom.
