By introducing the basic principles and characteristics of fire, students can understand the combustion process, and then learn its applications on energy utilization and its impacts on air pollution and disaster. Additionally, the corresponding prevention and control strategies for the air pollution and disaster derived from the fire are addressed in the course. The teaching objectives focus on cultivating students’ integrated thinking of sustainable management and environmental protection in the process of understanding, facing and solving problems, and enhancing students' strength of tolerance, integration and creativity. Furthermore, this course is aimed to develop students’ global view, view of life and lifelong learning ability, to fulfill the idea of whole person education of students, and to look forward to them being seeds for the spread of this popular knowledge.
